“Beggars can’t be choosers”. Everyone has heard this little nugget.
It’s supposed to be helpful advice to somehow suggest only when you’re in a position of abundance should you expect to have the luxury of choice.
But I don’t buy it.
It’s when you’re at your neediest that you have to be your choosiest. Because your choice will matter more.

what a 2 year old can teach you about productivity

One of the perks of my new “working arrangement” is that I’m able to be more flexible about the time I spend with S, my 2 year old. So I can take her to her preschool class or have breakfast with her and catch up the hours later at night or over the weekend.
And honestly, as someone who has been back to working 10-12 hour days since S was 3 months old, it’s been an adjustment to see her in non-weekend hours that aren’t also the melt-down prone bookends of the day.
But it’s been wonderful. I can really focus on her and whatever awe-worthy stage she’s at for that week. And I’ve realized that there’s a lot I can learn from her approach to her day.

ode to mentors

With Mother’s Day fast approaching there are countless articles on how mums are the best. They are in general, but when I think about my own, I think about what a great teacher she’s always been for me and all of the life lessons I’ve taken away from her.
Which led me to ponder all the people on my life that have had a profound impact on shaping the person I am today as I continue to grow and evolve. And I realized I have a lot of people to thank.
So for this Mother’s Day I would like to share about of a twist – an ode to mentors.
